I'm sure it will be released someday.
But when? No one knows.
We can only wait.

I hope it gets released soon. I can't stnad the way the TV stations always cut out the very end. The banter between Vincent Prive and CL is hilarious!

Yes, I've not seen it for a few years! But I do remember Vincent Price referring to a character he & Christopher Lee played and Vincents was better.....and then we just hear Christopher say 'Bitch'
I hope they do release it soon!

I believe the rights to this lie with MGM.
Since they've been releasing a large number of their horror titles under the Midnight Madness series, I would expect this within the next year or two.
I'll ask around and see what I can find.

MGM does own HOUSE OF LONG SHADOWS, but from what I understand, they don't have a decent master at this time, and this will no doubt prolong the DVD release. MGM acquired the entire Cannon Film library, and this is how they obtained LONG SHADOWS.

Hi George Reis
That's a shame, you'd of thought they could've found a taped version and adapted one from that......but there must be more to the treatment than meets the eye!
Thanks for the research!

An underrated film. That "bitch" moment is a classic!

On another Christopher Lee topic, a couple of years ago they released videos of 'This is your Life' did they include the Christopher Lee evening or does anyone know if its likely to reach DVD? I missed out on this at the time and would love to see it!

I think that "House of the Long Shadows" starts too slowly and is not helped by an inept and inexcusably arrogant performance by Desi Arnaz Jr.
However, as for the performances of the principals - Vincent Price's bouts of soliloquising, Christopher Lee's straight-faced sinisterness and Peter Cushing's drunken ramblings - are brilliant.
The conversation between Vincent Price and Christopher Lee at the end almost reflects their years together as close friends and mickey-takers...
Luckily enough, I recorded the film from a local television station in 1990 and still have the copy today - there are adverts on it, but it is uncut!

"This is your Life" As far as we know, there are no plans for it to go on DVD or video.
A very limited number of members saw the episode at this at this website over a year ago at a private screening. Since then, the BBC sold the rights to a company in the US and when we contacted them, they replied saying the don't know what they will do with it yet.
I still have a master copy which was sent to Christina by the BBC a few years later. Quality stuff. Ah, the original rights where from LWT, "London Weekend Television".

I have to agree with Rocky 2001. Exciting as it was to see Messrs. Lee, Cushing, Price and Carradine--the film itself was the cinematic equivalent of a non-entity. And indeed, the casting of Desi Arnaz Jr was a disaster. So smug and complacent looking for most of the film, I kept waiting (hoping) for him to be brained by a large piece of masonry... and considering that it was made for TV, don't be surprised if even a DVD is so-so quality when it comes out... (sigh)
Best,

I never remember this film being made for TV, when you consider it did the rounds at the cinema and then sometime after was available to buy on Betamax and VHS! I agree with you it was a bit of a joke..........but an enjoyable one!
It was long over due for the 4 great (surviving at that time) horror film actors to appear in one.......perhaps if it'd happened some years before it would have classed as a classic! and Desi Arnaz Jr and Richard Todd were thrown in for good measure.
I remember that if you watched the film closely they (main actors) appeared briefly going into the restuarant at the start of the film as Desi Arnaz Jr came out!

So it was released theatrically in the UK. Interesting. It was pay-cable in the US (HBO, I believe) and then straight to video. This is a terrible country for theatrical films, though...
