Since the forums are moderated, people don't see their posts until someone approves them and puts them through. Sometimes the delay makes them think that the board is broken, or that they posted incorrectly. Often they post again and again, which means moderators and the Admins have to log in and check it out, then hit "delete." We also get further posts asking where people's own posts are -- and others asking why they don't see posts they've gotten email notifications about.
There is a message that flashes very briefly to people as soon as they make a post, but it's too fast to read. Why not use that message space to explain briefly that the post will not appear until a moderator puts it through, if it doesn't say that already, and set the refresh rate for that message for at least 5 seconds, so people have time to read it? I think that would solve a lot of the anxiety for posters.
Just a suggestion.
