My favorite Boris Karloff film was "Comedy of Terrors" because it was hilarious whe he accidently gave Vincent's character the poison when he thought it was just medicine.

Hi, this is an interesting topic for discussion among Lugosi/Karloff fans.  Karloff was not an egotistical actor by any contemporary accounts.  On the other hand, it is said that Lugosi was threatened by Karloff's success and blamed Boris for stealing the limelight.  If anything, Bela may have created the "rivalry", but it's a controversial subject.

Yeah Maria, I always wonder cause this kind of rivalry is often just promo, ya know?  Karloff was a prince, but I really wonder if Lugosi was as small of a man as the books say he was.  Personally, I doubt it.  What do you think?

I don't know. Randy.  He did keep that scrapbook on all of his films, and he was an alcoholic.  That sounds like a recipe for resentment to me!  He had some reason to to worry about Karloff; language difficulties stood in the way of his understanding everything that was going on around him, at least in the early years.  I know that the movie promotional machine made them rival baddies. Yes, I do think that it bothered Lugosi to play a supporting role instead of being the star alone.
