Daniel,
When an actor plays a role that he becomes as heavely indentified with as is the case of Mr. Lee and Dracula, typecasting does occur. Despite what roles he has played before or after Dracula, this character will stay with him for life. Even today, 30 years after his last appearance, newspapers, magazine's and television all have to refer to Dracula whenever they talk about him. This, of course, is not only completely unfair, but is a giant slight to all the fantastic roles he played before and since.
200 years from now if you were to look CL up in a who's who of the film world, it will show Dracula before any of his other accomplishments.
Very sad, but very true. We as his fans can help to soften this stereotyping by our referances to him. However, much like Karloff, Chaney (both Sr. & Jr.) Lugosi, Price and Peter Cushing to name a few, the stereotype will remain.
