Ah, so many fine performances by the late Mr. Reed.  I hope I've listed a suitable cross-section of his work.  My own vote goes for LION OF THE DESERT.  Not only because the film explores a hitherto unknown (to 'Hollywood', at least) aspect of WWII, the Italian presence in North Africa; but mainly because of Mr. Reed's riveting performance as the megalomaniacal General Graziani.  His dialogue with Anthony Quinn (as the Berber resistance leader, Omar Mukhta) where he rationalizes the Italian invasion while holding up a coin of the Caesars is classic cinema.

My vote would go for the comedy/western GREAT SCOUT AND CATHOUSE THURSDAY starring Lee Marvin, Oliver Reed, Strother Martin and Kay Lenz. Ollie's take on a drunken syphilis carrier bent on ridding the west by infecting every prostitute with the big "S" is one wild flic. The scene where Marvin and Martin give Ollie conflicting stories on the "cure" for his disease is beyond hysterical.

Joe,

I quite forgot The Great Scout and Cathouse Thursday.  T'was not an easy task thinking up a proper selection of Oliver Reed's work -- limited to ten.  I thought I'd end up leaving something out.

Christina Lee is on a distinguished road
One of my utmost favourite films where Oliver gave an excellent performance was "Hannibal Brooks" where he has to take an elephant over the Alps.  Even though it is a war movie there are some very light-hearted moments during the film.

Of course my other favourites were the 3 and 4 Musketeers and Oliver! (the musical).

Well I havent seen many of his performances but I have just bought 'House of Usher' with Oliver Reed and Donald Pleasence and it is deffinetely one of my favourite films!
It's an Edgar Allen Poe story.

House of Usher is one of Reeds and Mr Price greatest
performances. I was watching it by accident at my cousins house in Tranås, and I noticed he had record it so I started to watch it and Mr Price was wonderful.
I thought for a moment that the story was real. It was so
convincing.
