Ah, so many fine performances by the late Mr. Reed. I hope I've listed a suitable cross-section of his work. My own vote goes for LION OF THE DESERT. Not only because the film explores a hitherto unknown (to 'Hollywood', at least) aspect of WWII, the Italian presence in North Africa; but mainly because of Mr. Reed's riveting performance as the megalomaniacal General Graziani. His dialogue with Anthony Quinn (as the Berber resistance leader, Omar Mukhta) where he rationalizes the Italian invasion while holding up a coin of the Caesars is classic cinema.
