On february 28th I saw one of the most amazing films at the
Barbican I have ever seen. Jinnah.
Here's a rewiew on the film:
THE STORY
It's the end of the second world war. Muhammed Ali Jinnah is
on his deathbed. He is desperatly taken away to hospital but on the way there his ambulance car runs out of gas and gets stuck far away. while sleeping deeply he dreams himself back to the time he was the leader of Pakistan. He travels through the years as his old self and relives his younger times as a struggleling poltician in conflict with Gandhi.
He gets to see the terror the his people has sufferd and he sees again the women he loved. We get to see the whole story
from beginning to end how he carved out a nation out of the
british empire.
REWIEW
I was as many of the mebmers who were there: speachless.
Not only did we see a story about a remarkeble man and political leader, but also a story about a father, husband, brother, and a son. The story is very hard to describe if
you haven't seen the film and describing the film also.
Mr Lee IS Jinnah in every move, gesture, line, everything.
Even when he lay on the stretcher in the opening he is giving a remarkeble performance. Yet this film hasn't been shown elsewhere then just a few screenings every now and then. It has been shown in New York, Los Angeles, London filmfestival and at the Barbican. It's a shame it hasn't got a wide distribution around the western world.
If any of you members have a chance to see it. SEE IT!!!.
You wont regret it.
(This might be a lousy rewiew but at least a try)
