If you're a big fan of the Wicker Man and live in the North or North East of England you might like to know that the film is being shown at the Tyneside Cinema in Newcastle upon Tyne some time in March. I don't know the date yet but you can check out their website at www.tynecine.org . The cinema often has talks/Q&A sessions before or after special film so let's hope this is the case here.
You might also like to know that a special 2 disc DVD of the film is set for a summer release. Check out the future releases at www.anchorbayentertainment.com for more details.
Please reply to this post if you have any thoughts or news on the Wicker Man and Christopher Lee's contribution to this film.

Mike,
Thanks for the tip on The Wicker Man screening! I've contacted the cinema, and as soon as details are provided, we'll post them here at the site. It appears that the screening is part of a course discussing British Horror cinema with The Wicker Man being a part of it. The other films listed are impressive. A great chance for fans in the North of England to see one of Mr. Lee's strongest films on a cinema screen!
By the way, the final period of your link is not part of the address. The corrected link is: http://www.tynecine.org
Thanks again for posting the info!

Anyone who has a particular interest in the Wicker Man would be advised to check out the Allan Brown book "Inside the Wicker Man". I'm currently reading this and it presents a fascinating background to the troubled history of this classic. It can be bought at www.amazon.co.uk .

There's a review of INSIDE "THE WICKER MAN" in the Reviews Forum.

Allan Brown, author of Inside the Wicker Man, contacted me yesterday by e-mail. Apparently he would love to speak at next month's screening of the Wicker Man in Newcastle upon Tyne if they invite him. I will be contacting them today and I will let you know what happens by adding to this thread. :sunny:

have you guys read "Inside The Wicker Man" by Allan Brown? it's a real in depth study of the film and the impact it's had on people.
Mr Lee has contributed to it as well as Edward Woodward and various others who helped bring it to the screen.
Give it a read.

Tonight was the night 13th March, the night I was looking forward to going to the Tyneside cinema to see The Wicker Man on the big screen for the first time. Today was the day 13th March, the day we were married, I did not put the two together until yesterday when the local radio was doing a piece on The Wicker Man.
I sugested to my wife that we could go to the pictures for our anniversary.....well let me tell you...that was the worst meal I've ever had to stomach!!

It was great to see the Wicker Man on the big screen in Newcastle tonight. There was a very good turn out and it was an experience watching with an audience. The laughter at some lines was great, especially Lord Summerisle's first remarks!
Roll on the special 2 disk DVD!
