A general question:
What do you think about The Wicker Man?
(Positive and negative opinions)

We LOVE The Wicker Man!
Positives? The unusual story line, the particular "culture" and "mores" that are portrayed, the way the actors--in particular Mr Lee and Edward Woodward--fleshed out their characters, the background music, the setting, Mr. Lee's chance to sing a bit, the amazing ending, etc. etc!
Only Negative? That the complete version without the missing scenes is not available. The DVD which is supposed to come out soon should remedy that.
Once that happens, it's nothing short of a classic gem.

Well it was seeing the Wickerman and the House That Dripped Blood that made me a fan! I have allways been a fan of CL, but I became a proper fan when I sore those films if you know what I mean. :)
I think the Wickerman has a great soundtrack, and story line, it has a great cast, and Mr.Lee is in it for a long time, and he sings in it! It's a brilliant film! (I think I have mentioned everything)
I cant think of any negative points!

When I first saw " The Wicker Man" I didn't get anything.
But when I saw it the second time and again and again I understood it.
This is a film that needs to be kept on DVD. If you use VHS it will be wourn out. :D
I can't think of any negative points about the film. I LOVE IT!!!!!.
The best part Mr Lee has played apart from JINNAH.
Joe, if you were a mad doctor I wouldn't like to make an appointment.
:P

Great film!!!!
Positive points - fascinating subject, beautiful setting, fantastic acting, great music, great cast etc.,
Negative points - It was all very well to sacrifice Sgt. Howie, but I wish they hadn't sacrificed the animals too, thought that was unnecessary!!!

Great Film!!
Positive: Provokes religious thought, Mr. Lee sings,
has a twisted plot with a cool ending.
Negative: Too many versions, not on DVD( my VHS copy is worn out!)

Well, the good news is that, last I heard, it shuld be out in August in a standard and a 2 disc limited release. The limited is the ONLY one with the uncut version. There are some good posts about it at Mobius, with info and possible explanations and a possible link to a report on this.
That said, I love this film, and have gotten into controversy myself twice in my life, thanks to it :). http://www.mhvf.net/forum/euro/posts/18792.html |

It is very interesting to hear about the new special edition DVD! I have to say that it is a very suspenseful film with a major twist of the plot ending! I don' think I have ever seen a film quite like it and have to say that it is one of a kind.
