A wonderful film, that alas is presently out of print. I do hope someone like VCI or ANCHOR BAY pick up the rights for this film, along with a wonderful film called STEALING HEAVEN(Virgin)about Abelard and Heloise and A CHORUS OF DISAPPROVAL(Southgate) starring Jeremy Irons and A Hopkins about a small town theatre group.

Little movies like this and WHALES are hardly made any more, and video wears out, so a company restoring them to DVD .

WHALES is a slow film, but definitely sets the pace of the period, and Price is magnificent in the film as a former Russian count now reduced to living on the kindness of strangers..

Davis, Price, Gish-- all gone, and all missed...

shame that Price had to do DEAD HEAT .....WHALES was a better epitath to his skill as an actor...
